銅胎掐絲琺琅

景泰藍，學術上正式名稱是銅胎掐絲琺瑯，是一種將各種顏色的琺瑯附在銅胎或是青銅胎上，燒製而成的瑰麗多彩的工藝美術品，最早的文字记载出现在元朝。因其是在中国明朝景泰年間興盛起來，因此命名為景泰琺瑯或是景泰琅。後來又因多用寶石藍、孔雀藍色釉作為底襯色，而且「琅」的發音近似「藍」，最後演變成「景泰藍」這個名字。後來這個名字廣泛的包括所有的銅胎掐絲琺瑯。

精美的景泰藍製品必須是色彩潤澤鮮明，胎骨厚重堅實，搯絲整齊勻稱以及鍍金燦爛光亮。景泰藍的釉料非常多種，不過最常用的還是天藍（淡藍色）、寶藍（青金石色）、紅（雞血色）、淺綠（草綠色）、深綠（菜玉色，有半透明感）、白（車渠色）、葡萄紫（有玻璃質感的紫晶色）、紫紅（玫瑰色）、翠藍（介於天藍和寶藍之間，色澤亮麗）這幾種顏色。

脫蠟法

失蠟法，又稱脫蠟法，是一種鑄造方法，中國古代在青銅鑄造上已經使用這種方法，現代的精密鑄造中稱為熔模精密鑄造。
失蠟法是先用蠟製造模，應用到翻沙上，就是將蠟制的樣品埋入鑄造的沙型中，夯實，然後加熱，使沙型變得結實，蠟融化倒出，再將熔化的青銅或鐵水倒入。

一般翻砂是用木模或原型，得將砂型做成兩半，再合在一起，模具必須可以從半個砂型中取出。而失蠟法不必取出模具，因此可以鑄造形狀非常複雜的物品。現代精密鑄造使用非常細的鑄造沙，也是先做蠟模，然後將沙噴到模具上，高溫燒制沙模，可以做出非常精細，形狀非常複雜的模具。直接鑄造出非常精密的零件，不必再進行機械加工。
